Public Art in Apeldoorn: Investing in Art Together - Royal Talens
Art in public space has the ability to reach people beyond the walls of museums and institutions. In Apeldoorn, a new public art initiative will soon bring art literally into the streets. From the mission of the Royal Talens Foundation, to make art and talent development accessible, the foundation is investing in a local public art project. The project takes the form of a mural in the urban environment: a permanent artwork that will become part of everyday life in the city.

Art that is visible and accessible

By choosing a mural in public space, the project aims to make art visible to everyone, regardless of background or familiarity with art. The mural will be freely accessible, integrated into the cityscape, and experienced by residents and visitors alike as part of their daily surroundings.

At the same time, the project offers space for local and/or emerging artists to present their work on a large scale. Public art can serve as an important platform for artistic development, experimentation, and visibility.

Collaboration at the heart of the project

The mural is being developed in collaboration with ACEC Apeldoorn. Artistic guidance is provided by Jasper van der Graaf, who supports the process from concept to execution. Together, the partners are shaping a project that aligns with Apeldoorn’s identity as a city of creativity and with the long-standing history of Royal Talens in the region.

Collaboration plays a central role: between cultural organizations, artists, and partners who believe in the value of art in public space.

Support from Rabobank

On 19 March, the Royal Talens Foundation welcomed a group of around twenty colleagues from Rabobank at its new location in Apeldoorn. During this visit, a financial contribution was officially received to support the realization of the mural.

This contribution makes it possible to further develop the project and to invest in a high-quality artwork that will remain part of the city for years to come.

A place in the city

The exact location of the mural is still under consideration. The foundation invites residents and stakeholders to think along: where in Apeldoorn could a mural add meaning, character, or inspiration to the urban environment?

With this project, the Royal Talens Foundation aims to contribute to a city in which art is not only created, but also shared, openly, visibly, and sustainably.
