Tekenen voor Kinderen - The Netherlands
For more than 14 years, the Drawing for Children foundation has been drawing in hospitals, asylum seekers' centers, rehabilitation centers and medical nurseries. A group of professional illustrators who want to give children in special situations a small, magical moment by means of a drawing. United in a national foundation, responsible for more than 1200 drawing sessions on an annual basis, represented in more than 75 locations.
Unfortunately, children do not always grow up without worries. A short or longer stay in the hospital where the environment largely determines what is allowed and what is allowed, living in an asylum seekers' center with a lot of uncertainty about the future or convalescing for weeks in an unfamiliar environment. Sometimes there is fear, pain or sadness. Drawing for Children Foundation brings the children into another world for a while; the anything-is-anything-is world. By drawing for this group of children we stimulate their creativity and imagination. They give them back control for a while: they determine what is signed. The draftsman is an intermediate, listening ear and can draw anything they ask. The end product, the drawing, is more than a small work of art. It is often framed, shared with friends and family, and sheds a more positive light on a time of great worry. Drawing is a magical medicine and the artist a wizard with pencils and markers. Drawing for Children foundation: 'That is why we are so happy with the Royal Talens Foundation, which has been donating material to us in recent years to be able to draw with. From watercolor pencils to markers that make the lights from the cars extra beautiful. On behalf of all the children, thank you again for your wonderful contribution.'
