Graffiti project: Street Art with Kings Of Colors and Hambaken Connect in De Hambaken Youth Center
The youth areas are furnished with sofas, chairs, tables and storage furniture, but the walls are still bare. Youth workers Yassin Settout (Hambaken Connect) and Nick Schönhage (PowerUp073) have therefore started a graffiti project to give Youth center De Hambaken some color by the underprivileged young people in the neighbourhood.
“Young people like to come together here to meet and relax, but also to participate in or undertake youth activities. The bare walls still leave something to be desired and it creates a chilly and cold atmosphere in the living room of the youth center,” says Nick. “They sometimes joke that it looks like a waiting room. They are right about this.”
Kings of Colors
The Royal Talens Foundation approached Kings of Colors to ensure that the project runs smoothly. Founder Jan Henk van Ieperen is an experienced Street Artist. We are grateful he is willing to guide the creative sessions with these young people.
Graffiti by young people
"Together we create a place with beautiful graffiti and quotes from role models. Above all, it is very important that our young people are intensively involved in this process, because it is their place and they can be proud of their own creations, ” says Yassin Settout.
