In this step-by-step plan, we show you how to draw this cute bird using coloured pencils. Try out this simple drawing yourself!

  • Bruynzeel graphite pencil HB
  • Bruynzeel coloured pencils green, yellow, pink and black
  • White paper
Step 1 - Drawing a bird

Step 1

Start with a sketch.

Use the HB graphite pencil to draw the head, belly and wing by making round shapes. Make the belly bigger than the head.

Step 2

Connect the shapes.

Make the shapes rounder by connecting the rough lines and erase overlapping auxiliary lines. In addition, draw the legs, eyes and beak.

Step 3

Add some details.

Make some tufts of feathers on the head and make feathers on the wing. Add cheeks by making two small circles on either side of the snout.

Step 4

Time for some colour!

Colour the bird with the blue, yellow, black and pink pencils. Leave a small round in each eye white for the reflection in the eye. Great job, you finished your bird!
