About Ecoline liquid watercolour

Ecoline liquid watercolour started with the iconic square bottle. This well-known bottle has since been switched out to a convenient round bottle, of course without compromising the quality you've come to expect from us.

The round bottle has the same stability and wide opening as the square bottle, so you can work straight out of the bottle using a brush or pen. In addition, the bottle is fitted with a handy pipette that enables you to easily dose Ecoline into mixing trays or straight onto your artwork.

What is the most important difference between watercolour paint and Ecoline?

An important difference between both types of paint is that watercolour paint is made on the basis of pigments and Ecoline on the basis of dyes.

When choosing the pigment for water colours it is important that the lightfastness of the pigment is optimal so that the colour does not fade under the influence of light. This choice can unfortunately not be made for dyes, as the most dyes have a poor to moderate lightfastness.

How do I make the choice between Ecoline and watercolour paint?

If a painting is made with the intention of hanging on the wall for a long time (and therefore exposed to light) it is best to use only watercolour. If the painting has only a temporary function, then the specific properties of Ecoline (the transparency and colour intensity of dyes are unparalleled) can provide many advantages.

Consider, for example, illustrations, designs and presentations. An illustration would be reproduced in, for example, a book or a magazine, and a design functions as a starting point for arriving at the final product. The original can then be sealed and stored.

Can I mix Ecoline with watercolours?

Ecoline and watercolours can certainly be mixed, but whether it is wise to do so depends on the intention behind the work.
