What you need

  • Talens Art Creation Vintage Chalk paint + Crackle medium set
  • Spalter brush or paint roller
  • Sanding sponge or paper
  • Tray

Both the Vintage Chalk paint and the Crackle medium are water based: brushes can be cleaned with warm water.

Step 1

Slightly sand the surface and make sure it is grease free.

Step 2

Paint the surface with a flat brush, i.e. spalter brush. And let it dry for 30 minutes.

Step 3

Apply a layer of crackle medium on top of the painted surface, and let it dry for at least 1 hour. The thickness of the layer determines the size of the crackles.

Step 4

Apply another layer of paint. Use a different colour for the top layer, so the “crackle” will stand out. Crackling starts immediately, so the top colour must be applied in one stroke.

The surface can be finished with Talens Art Creation Lacquer.
