I use watercolour to portray the place and memory that I experience through light and atmosphere in a Romantic Impressionistic style.

About Bancha Sriwong-Rach

Bancha was born in Udonthani, Thailand in 1970. Ever since he was young, he loved drawing pictures, so he asked his parents to let him study art. His father and mother were farmers, so in those days, studying art was next to impossible for Bancha’s family. Luckily, the owner of the farm supported art. He came from abroad and let Bancha see different art collections he had in his home.

Starting a career

At the age of 14, Bancha joined in several art competitions. The reward money from these competitions helped him financially support himself. “I always tell myself: do your best and work hard, everything will turn out good eventually.” He was able to study art at the Poh Chang Campus and Rajamangala Institute of Technology, where he completed his Masters of Art.

Spreading joy through paintings

Bancha wants to make people happy with his paintings and at the same time, the process of painting itself gives him joy. That’s why he wanted to become an artist. Being a professional artist to him means he can make a living doing the thing he loves most. Bancha has won several awards and his art can be found in various (solo) exhibitions over the years.

Empowering creativity

For Bancha, his work is a way to tell a story. He uses watercolours to portray the place and memory that he experiences through light and atmosphere in a Romantic Impressionistic style.

"I have many senior artists that I admire, both international and from my own country. Just by looking at their works, I feel inspired. When people enjoy our work or when we can share the happiness of painting with them, that keeps me going as well. I want people to be able to enjoy art and apply that happiness to their lives."
